‘Go Direct’
Direct payments have been one of the ways in which a disabled person could take some control of the independence of their lives. For that reason the Disability Alliance Sunderland (DAS) has always been in support of the scheme. Working in partnership with similarly convinced organisations in the city, with Age UK (was Age Concern) as the lead organisation, we helped form a consortium that offered reliable help, guidance and support for all those people who wanted to become part of the Direct Payments Scheme. This organisation is aptly named ‘Go Direct’.
